Hair care tips

The same guidance Danielle gives every client in the chair — wash routines, nighttime protection, styling and color care to keep your install flawless between visits.

Wash Day

Washing is where installs are won or lost

Shampoo the scalp only, in a downward motion — never pile or scrub the hair on top of your head. Conditioner and masks go mid-length to ends, always below the bond line. Rinse lukewarm, squeeze (don't wring), and blot with a microfiber towel.

  • Brush thoroughly before you get in the shower
  • Blow-dry the bond area fully before you sleep — damp bonds are how matting starts
  • Clarify once a month, then follow with a bond or protein treatment
While You Sleep

Night Routine

Five minutes at night is the highest-return habit for install longevity. Sleep in a loose low braid or two, on silk or satin — never with wet hair.

  • A silk bonnet over a braid protects the bond line and the ends
  • Never sleep with wet or damp hair
  • Rotate where ponytail tension sits during the day
Styling

Style smart, not hot

A sleek finish comes from stretching the root first and polishing second — not pressing harder. Two slow passes at a lower temperature beat one hot pass every time; heat damage on extension hair is permanent.

  • Blow-dry smooth with tension before any iron touches the hair
  • Keep hot tools at least two inches below the bond line (Feather Tips excepted)
  • Always apply heat protectant first
Color Care

Keeping your color true

Custom color needs a little more protection than natural hair. Color-depositing conditioner between visits does more for tone than any purple shampoo used daily — and always rinse cool.

  • Gloss or tone every 8–10 weeks to keep the match crisp
  • Never apply color or toner over your bonds at home
  • Chlorine, hard water and sun shift tone fastest — use a UV leave-in
Between Visits

Root management as bonds grow out

Once bonds sit 2–3 cm from the scalp, your natural root can look bent underneath them. A hot comb on a low setting — or a blow dryer with light tension — keeps the root smooth without ever touching the bond.

  • Start early rather than waiting until the row looks lifted
  • Keep the dryer moving so heat never builds in the bond
  • If a section won't lay flat, it's time to book your reinstall
Longevity

Red flags to text us about

Most install issues are fixable in minutes if we catch them early. Text the studio instead of pulling at anything that feels off.

  • A bond that feels tender, slipped, or sits at an odd angle
  • Matting at the root that doesn't separate with your fingers
  • Hair that suddenly feels dry, gummy or brittle mid-length
